Debuting with the hauntingly beautiful Clowns EP in June 2012, artist/songwriter/producer XOV quickly gained the attention of the music industry’s top shift. His talent touches every aspect of his work - from the writing and composition of the music to the design and visual production of the surrounding artwork.
Born in a middle-eastern war zone, XOV’s parents fled to Sweden as refugees when he was just a baby. After loosing his father to drug abuse as a young child, XOV began writing poetry that slowly evolved into songs accompanied by the piano.
“I’ve never talked about emotions, I write songs about them. In my teens, I felt rootless and did stupid things to fill that void. I entered the world of gangs, drugs and violence. I remember being hospitalized at thirteen after getting my face crushed in an act of racism. It was like pouring gasoline on a fire that was already out of control, but music came to save my life."
As many of his closest friends chose a life of crime, XOV fought his way out of that expected path. Instead, he made headlines for becoming one of Sweden’s youngest power CEO’s. But even with all this professional success, something was missing.
“I had everything a kid with my background could ever wish for, but I wasn’t happy...”
In 2009, XOV resigned from the corporate world to start over as an independent artist and entrepreneur, founding his imprint Qryptone Music - a new road that turned out to be filled with new challenges, pitfalls and traps. Today, you can find him in the hills of Hollywood or on the remote islands of the Stockholm archipelago, writing his debut album.
