Following a recent article about collection agencies being grouped together with the frauders and scammers of the debt collection field.

On November 13, 2012 collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution released a statement regarding the news from a Herald Business article on well regulated collection agencies being grouped with scam agencies in a new provincial legislation.

According to the Herald Business article, “Some collection agency operators said Monday they resent being grouped in with unscrupulous out-of-province debt-reduction companies as part of legislative reform.” The article states that this new legislation limits a good commercial or consumer collection agency’s ability to operate effectively.

According to Rodger D. Noel, president of Credifax Atlantic Ltd., “It is beyond consideration that the province would include our regulated industry with a bunch of unregulated scammers, schemers and fraudsters.” Noel stated that the legislation would limit the contact agencies can have with debtors, making it harder to collect debts, limiting the effectiveness of a credible agency.

John Monderine, CEO of collection agency, Rapid Recovery Solution, showed his displeasure with the recent news. “I can't believe a government has decided that a debt collection agency is the same as a debt reduction company. That is two completely different businesses. Just crazy,” said Monderine.
