Lenox Hill Hospital nurses on Monday ratified a new three-year contract. The new agreement covers more than 1,000 Lenox Hill Hospital nurses represented by the New York Professional Nurses Union (NYPNU).
“Both the hospital and NYPNU worked hard to negotiate a fair, competitive contract for nurses,” said Frank Danza, executive director of Lenox Hill Hospital. "Given all of the changes impacting healthcare today and projected over the next decade, we thank the members of both bargaining committees and those who supported them for their work on this important effort that will enable us to continue to deliver quality, compassionate care to the communities we have served for 155 years, Danza said.”
The three-year contract maintains appropriate and safe staffing ratios and floating divisions, and also offers the North Shore-LIJ Health and Welfare plan as a choice for all RNs. In addition, the contract provides for RNs hired after 2006 to enter the North Shore-LIJ retirement plan enjoyed by non-union employees, effective 2014, as well as an average raise of approximately 2.4 percent over each year of the three years in the contract.
The new contract will be in effect through October 31, 2015.
