Veterans Initiative - Employment Guide

The Employment Guide®, a division of Dominion Enterprises, is following up the popularity of its "Putting Veterans Back to Work" showcase by expanding it into an ongoing effort aimed at helping veterans find jobs in the civilian sector.

"Putting Veterans Back to Work" began as a four-week showcase featuring nearly 2,000 jobs and 65 companies. The expanded initiative, scheduled to coincide with Veterans Day, will connect former servicemen and women with top employers looking for job candidates with military experience.

“The companies taking part in our initiative understand how veterans contribute to a dynamic workforce. We believe it is our duty to support these brave men and women who have sacrificed so much on our behalf. Providing easy access to meaningful, long-term employment is one way to acknowledge their heroic service,” said Vice President/General Manager Chris Baker.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the veteran unemployment rate dropped to 6.3 percent as of October 2012. "Putting Veterans Back to Work" supports this downward trend by presenting a wide spectrum of employment opportunities exclusively to veterans.

“Companies that join this effort to hire veterans demonstrate their commitment to the military community. I’m pleased to report we had an amazing month as a direct result of our involvement with this initiative and look forward to participating again, ” said Erin Viorol from Military Spouse Corporate Career Network.

Employers participating in "Putting Veterans Back to Work" will be featured in The Employment Guide’s online, mobile, print and email campaigns. The Employment Guide acknowledges the growing role of mobile devices in today’s job searches by enabling veterans to view and apply for positions on a mobile-optimized site. The print publication will be available in high-traffic areas in 26 major markets across the country, including workforce centers and Veterans Affairs offices.

Job seekers will be able to find opportunities and career resources from companies such as 3P Delivery, Triple Crown, Lincare, Sanford-Brown, U.S. Colleges, LSG Sky Chefs, Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Airtron Heating and Air Conditioning, Alban Cat, Jan-Pro and Sperry Rail.
