The Nancy DeKatch Caregiver Institute is hosting a Caregiver Coronation Ceremony and Luncheon in honor of National Family Caregiver Month and Veteran’s Day. The event will take place Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 294, located at 3440 Morrish Road in Swartz Creek, MI.
The Caregiver Coronation Ceremony and Luncheon is dedicated to underpaid caregivers who live in or near Genesee, Lapeer and Shiawassee County. Guests will enjoy a free lunch and their own copy of the 2012 Caregiver Proclamation from President Obama, along with a miniature American flag, certificate of appreciation from The Nancy DeKatch Caregiver Institute and a caregiver flower. Guest speaker, Dr. Patricia Schmidt will speak on the topics of rewarding and supporting the family caregiver. Music will be provided by harpist Laurel Fetterbush. The event is sponsored by the Respite Ranch for Caregivers, Barnett Financial and Tax and Out Home Transitional.

The Nancy DeKatch Caregiver Institute focuses on the personal wellbeing of the overburdened, underpaid caregiver. This non-profit organization raises funds to assist the compassionate fatigued caregiver through educational seminars and discussion groups, and through assistance in funding, stays at the Respite Ranch. The Institute helps fund the Respite Ranch stay, as well as caregiver home care services for the care recipient to allow the caregiver some much needed respite relief. The caregiver will receive 48 hours of uninterrupted rest, relaxation and recuperation. The program also offers education, and personal wellness information and emotional support. It is designed to benefit both the caregiver and care recipient.
