In the aftermath of Sandy, AQUA GREEN believes that one of their most meaningful cleanups will take place in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Hurricane Sandy ripped through the North East last week leaving a trail of devastating garbage in her path. While many can repair the wreckage over a few months or years, some of the longest-lasting, irreparable effects on the environment will come from hurricane trash washed out to sea.

14 billion pounds of trash ends up in our oceans every year, much of which is recyclable.

AQUA GREEN, an Easton Pennsylvania based manufacturer of sustainable consumer products, has made it their mission to rid oceans and waterways from reusable trash that has been wasted and discarded. AQUA GREEN gives these otherwise environmentally harmful materials a second life by recycling or upcycling them into new, useful consumer products.

“No one knows what the future has in store for us so we need to do what we can to plan ahead,” says Sandra Davidoff of AQUA GREEN.

AQUA GREEN plans for the future by making consumer products such as sunglasses and readers from recycled bamboo, picture frames from recycled Styrofoam, swimsuits from recycled plastics and women’s sportswear from recycled components such as corn and coffee.

“AQUA GREEN’s goal is to be synonymous with sustainability without compromising fashion.”

AQUA GREEN also co-hosts beach cleanups with their retailers. In their first season AQUA GREEN and its sustainable, USA-made swimwear brand ECO SWIM by AQUA GREEN removed over 3 tons of trash from various shores across the United States.

The effects of Hurricane Sandy have only strengthened their mission to reduce your carbon footprint in the sand™. In the aftermath of Sandy, AQUA GREEN believes that one of their most meaningful cleanups will take place in the New York Metropolitan Area. Prior to Hurricane Sandy, they had already spoken to editors at top fashion magazines and leading sustainable retailers excited to participate in the North East cleanups as well as other cleanups nationwide.

AQUA GREEN pledges to host 13 cleanups in 2013. The potential reach for their beach cleanups continues to expand as their list of retail partners continues to grow, including Paragon in New York, Nordstrom in Seattle, Belk in Myrtle Beach, Dillards in Tampa and Little Rock, Aqua Beachwear in Ft. Myers, Everything But Water in Orlando, Liverpool and Full Sand in Mexico City, Beach and Body in Montreal, and Swimco in Calgary.

AQUA GREEN is one of the world’s leading sustainable lifestyle brands that focuses on fashionable consumer products. AQUA GREEN is based in Easton, PA and its swimsuits can be purchased at specialty and department stores as well as on select websites.
