On November 8, 2012, obstacle race Spartan Race, releases a statement congratulating Spartan Champion and blogger Cody Moat, following his victory at the Trail National Marathon in Moab on November 3rd, 2012.

According to Moat’s Spartan profile, “If anyone had any doubts at all about Cody Moat being an absolute Spartan assassin, an obstacle course killer, a mud race monster, his performance at the Spartan South Carolina Beast on Saturday not only laid those doubts to rest, it said last rites over them, sent them condolences and then lit them aflame in an effigy of efficiency, endurance and excellence.”

As a winner of the Spartan Ultra Beast and Beast in Vermont among many others, Moat’s first place performance in the national marathon has thrilled his fellow Spartans. In addition to these victories, Moat has also been named the Athlete of the Week by USA Track & Field.

Spartan Race released an official statement congratulating Moat, stating, “Spartan Race is thrilled with Moat's performance. His trail skills have translated into Spartan Races time and time again, and he's the real deal! What a remarkable performance and we look forward to seeing Moats on one of our courses again soon!”
