Dr. Taban, board certified oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon, was invited to attend the annual Grave’s Disease Conference as a guest speaker held in San Diego at the Kona Kai Resort & Spa on October 27th, 2012. The conference, titled “A Bridge To Wellness XIX,” provided insight for physicians and sufferers of ophthalmology related disorders. Dr. Taban has en extreme knowledge in ragards to Thyroid Eye Disease, Surgical Rehabilitation, and Orbital Decompression.

The Grave’s Disease & Thyroid Foundation is the only nation wide, educational and non-profit organization specializing in the education of people with Grave’s Disease. The organization focuses on providing easy access and informative information to sufferers of the disease as well as their friends, families, and physicians. At this year’s conference, Dr. Taban spoke about Thyroid Eye Disease.

“The Grave’s Disease & Thyroid Foundation is a wonderful outlet for those dealing with the disease. The foundation provides a great deal of information for those who aren’t entirely familiar with everything that it can possible entail,” said Dr. Taban.

Thyroid Eye Disease is an autoimmune eye condition that can affect people of all ages, though adults are primarily affected. Generally, the disease occurs with symptoms including pain in the eyes, dryness, itching, and even inflammation. Though the disease goes through varying degrees of severity depending on the patient, the treatment of the condition is very feasible. Most often, lubricating eye drops can be used in the beginning stages for the relief of pain.

“If anyone is experiencing symptoms of Grave’s Disease, it’s important to visit an expert oculoplastic surgeon. This is a very manageable condition and can be easily treated,” said Dr. Taban.

Dr. Mehryar (Ray) Taban is a board certified oculoplastic surgeon with offices in both Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills. Dr. Taban completed his residency at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Ophthalmology, where he would soon be selected Chief Resident. To further his training additionally, Dr. Taban also completed a two-year Oculofacial cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery fellowship at the world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Dr. Taban focuses on providing the best treatments and care for his patients at all possible times.
