“By taking steps to prevent tension from building up to a tipping point and by building a stronger system of checks and balances,” Herath believes, “it’s possible to resolve conflicts at all levels through peaceful means.”

“The world is set to repeat its history of global wars, this time around with a threat of a global nuclear catastrophe of dire consequences,” says author R. B. Herath. “Even the United Nations can’t seem to avoid it.” In his new book “A New Beginning for Humankind: A Recipe for Lasting Peace on Earth” (published by iUniverse) Herath reviews this unfortunate situation and lays out a creative way to avoid the impending fiasco and establish lasting peace on Earth.

In his book Herath examines the major violent conflicts in the world today, and asks some fundamental questions of each: is there any guarantee that none of the ongoing violent conflicts will deteriorate into a worldwide fiasco; if there is no such guarantee, what needs to be done to prevent such an eventuality; and is there anything more to be done to ensure lasting peace on the planet?

“By taking steps to prevent tension from building up to a tipping point and by building a stronger system of checks and balances,” Herath believes, “it’s possible to resolve conflicts at all levels through peaceful means.”

An excerpt from “A New Beginning for Humankind”:

“Despite such warnings, some seem to think that although the nuclear threat is real, no one has yet seen a sign of an imminent nuclear confrontation. According to experts, however, this is not the case. For example, according to a related report (Schultz, Perry, Kissinger, and Nunn 2008), a group of influential former Cold War warriors, based at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, has categorically stated, “The accelerating spread of nuclear weapons, nuclear know-how and nuclear material has (already) brought us to a nuclear tipping point” (para. 1). It is a warning no one should ignore.”

Herath intends for “A New Beginning for Humankind” to be much more than just a book. He will use it as the main resource material for the world-peace movement he is committed to launching.
