Since entering the National Football League in 2006, Colts’ safety Antoine Bethea’s outstanding playmaking ability has helped distinguish him among his peers and earned him two trips to the Pro Bowl. In addition to helping the Colts win Super Bowl XLI, Bethea has started every single game since entering the league. After seven seasons in the NFL, his dogged style of play led him to surpass a rare milestone of 750 tackles when the Colts’ took on the Miami Dolphins on November 4, 2012, per the Colts’ statistics.

The tackle milestone comes on the heels of Bethea’s teammates selecting him as the recipient of the 2012 Ed Block Courage Award. The annual award recognizes courageous play by an individual on each of the 32 National Football League teams, with players of each team nominating an individual teammate to receive the honor. Bethea is having a banner year as he’s also been nominated for his third Pro Bowl, the NFL's Bart Starr Award, an annual honor awarded to an NFL player of outstanding character and is an NFLPA PULSE Award recipient as a nominee for the Byron "Wizzer" White Award, which is awarded annually to an NFL player based on their charity work.

“I am grateful that I have been given the opportunity to do what I love every single day. Without a doubt, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else besides Indy”, said Bethea. “That being said, it is because of my teammates that I am able to accomplish any and everything on the field. I definitely share these achievements with them!”

Bethea has proven to be a force to be reckoned with on the field and he is aiming to have the same effect off the field through his nonprofit organization, Safe Coverage Foundation. SCF is committed to providing access and resources for students to achieve their dreams of a higher education. The Foundation offers technology grants, a scholarship program and a college tour that exposes high school students to life at colleges and universities.
