With the holidays just around the corner, working with an established nonprofit, such as Gleaners Food Bank, is an honor and one that the whole team was excited to participate in.

Navigating for Non Profits is a road trip of volunteerism. Maggie Naffziger and Jenna Lamoreaux, the group’s founders, are driving across the country and setting up volunteer events with the goal of inspiring new and existing volunteers along the way. Their journey began on July 29, 2012, in San Francisco. Since then, the duo has already organized volunteer opportunities in 32 cities and engaged over 100 volunteers.
According to a 2011 Bureau of Labor Statistics study, one in four American adults volunteer. Naffziger and Lamoreaux hope to increase that number through their efforts with Navigating for Non Profits. They gained their strong passion for volunteering and saw firsthand the changes that it can make in communities, both large and small, during two terms in AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps.
“Volunteering is a positive way to get involved with your community, and it's easy to do too. My favorite thing about volunteering is the knowledge and skills you gain,” commented Naffziger. “Each experience is different, and it's a lot of fun meeting people who like to help out.”
The Indianapolis office of total recruitment services provider PrincetonOne joined Naffziger and Lamoreaux on their quest on November 9, 2012. PrincetonOne and Navigating for Non Profits assisted Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, an organization dedicated to storing and distributing food and critical grocery products to 350 hunger relief agencies in 21 counties across central and southeastern Indiana.
“The PrincetonOne RPO Indianapolis office has always been focused on giving back to our community in any way that we are able, and we felt that this was a great opportunity to support Indianapolis,” said Vice President of PrincetonOne RPO Michelle Gillin. “With the holidays just around the corner, working with an established nonprofit, such as Gleaners Food Bank, is an honor and one that the whole team was excited to participate in.”
Naffziger and Lamoreaux maintain a blog documenting their travels. It can be accessed at http://navigatingfornonprofits.blogspot.com/.
