New York, NY (PRWEB) November 16, 2012
On November 16, 2012, collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution responded to a Business Day article by Georgia Wilkins with complaints, regarding a debt collector being accused of blackmail.
According to the Business Day article, “A debt collection agency used by three of the big four banks has been found to have abused and ''blackmailed'' people to recover debt in a scathing judgment handed down in the Federal Court.” The article states that debt collection company ACM Group has been told to change the way it practices debt collection, and to take responsibility for threatening consumers with leaking their debt information to friends, family, and neighbors.
According to the article, “The company was taken to court by the corporate watchdog in May over allegations that it ''unduly harassed'' eight debtors between November 2008 and June 2010.” The article mentions that the threats and abuse came as a result of employees following instructions in their company’s staff manual.
John Monderine, CEO of collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution, offered complaints in the direction of ACM Group. "I have a complaint about this debt collection agency. How is it possible that only 8 people out of the thousands of debtors they have placed for collection were the only ones who this happened to,” says Monderine. “A more thorough investigation would either reveal more widespread abuse or that these cases may not have been managed properly. Either way, abusing consumers over a debt is deplorable and should be dealt with accordingly."
