Top Universities to Present Results of Adoption of Leading Language-Learning Technology at ACTFL’s 2012 Annual Convention and World Languages Expo

Representatives from San Diego State University and Lewis University will present the benefits of incorporating Transparent Language’s online language-learning system in their language programs to enhance student outcomes.

Transparent Language, Inc., a leading provider of language-learning technology for the government, education, corporate, library, and consumer markets, invites ACTFL 2012 attendees to learn how leading educational institutions are improving the language success of their students. This information will be available during Transparent Language’s presentations at the ACTFL conference in Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday, as well as in the company’s booth (#1019). Presentations will demonstrate how leading colleges and universities leverage language-learning technology to improve language outcomes.

Presentation sessions will also feature guest speakers from some of Transparent Language’s subscribing organizations. Evan Rubin, Director of Instructional Technology at San Diego State University’s LARC, will discuss how certain resources are deployed in the language lab and used to augment traditional classroom instruction. SDSU is consistently at the cutting edge of educational technology, and they’re reinventing how Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese are taught. Serafima Gettys, Coordinator of the Foreign Language Programs at Lewis University, will talk about how technology can be tightly aligned with curricula to dramatically improve student outcomes. Professor Gettys receives the highest ratings from students on the quality of her teaching and use of technology. Presentations will also feature new information about language trends at top colleges and universities.

Conference attendees will be invited to try the new Transparent Language Online system for free. This system leverages gaming dynamics, adaptive algorithms, and real-world language usage to help students succeed initially and retain language over time. Transparent Language Online is specifically designed to cover all of the different ways that students, instructors, and educational institutions incorporate language learning into their curricula and campus communities.
