Online shoppers will spend $54.47 billion this holiday season, according to forecasts published by eMarketer. Retailers depend on marketers to help attract these holiday spenders to their online stores. In return, retailers pay them for sending purchasing customers to their websites. That’s where DotRebate comes in. “There are plenty of marketers that generate website traffic for retailers and just pocket the payments,” said DotRebate co-founder Steve Gray, “but we knew a better model would be to share that money with our members by giving them cash back on purchases they make at our retail partner sites.”
Members earn cash back when they choose a retailer on DotRebate.com and click the link that takes them to that retailer’s website before they make a purchase. DotRebate membership is free and consumers only need to give their name and email address to sign up. “When we say membership is free, we mean it in every sense of the word,” Gray said. “We don’t share our members’ email addresses or contact information with anyone, and there are no strings attached.”
DotRebate hopes that shoppers will take advantage of their cash back shopping program this holiday season in addition to other seasonal retail deals. In November and December, 47.5 percent of online retailers will offer shoppers coupons, 37.5 percent will offer free shipping, and another 32.5 percent will roll out limited time promotions, according to a research survey published by Shop.org. “Cash back adds another layer of savings to seasonal retail promotions and deals, which ultimately means less financial stress and better holidays for our members – and that’s our goal,” said Gray.
