The latest unemployment figures were released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics last week and while they showed a slight uptick in unemployment, the number of people looking for work also increased. This may be due to an increase in desirable positions as evidenced by the job postings on AdminCrossing.com. The job search website showed 110,518 positions in August and 126,330 positions listed in September. This is an 1.3-percent increase in listings overall for this time period.
“We are thrilled with the numbers we’re seeing,” says CEO of AdminCrossing.com, A. Harrison Barnes. “The slight increase in job numbers shows the economy is recovering in a practical, real-time way. That’s something these larger surveys can’t provide.” The website lists administrative jobs on a daily basis, which Barnes argues, provides a more accurate look at the current state of this industry, as well as the economy as a whole. “Surveys take weeks, months even to compile--our site can give job seekers an up-the-minute look at the state of affairs,” he adds.
Further information from the BLS report showed an increase of people entering the employment pool. 178,000 new people are now looking for work. Plus, 410,000 people indicated they found employment in the past month. With the unemployment rate increased by 170,000 people, the increasing workforce can be read as a generally positive sign. Just as Barnes indicated, this is a likely sign that the quality of jobs are improving.
According to the BLS report, an average of 173,000 jobs were added to the economy since July. Regardless, those who perform administrative work seem to have a wide number of opportunities available on AdminCrossing.com and in the economy at large.
AdminCrossing.com is one of many employment websites designed for job seekers. It is a part of the Employment Research Institute network of sites, which is owned by A. Harrison Barnes and is based in Pasadena, CA.
