Author Ryan Pearson says He Drew on His Background to Juxtapose Adolescent Angst and the Demands of Being a Teen Superhero.

In his new book, “Green Hope,” author Ryan Pearson shares through protagonist Reagan Jameson, a teen superhero, what it’s like to acquire immense power and wealth while dealing with the angst and issues of adolescence.

“This first installment (of a planned seven-book series) has several twists and turns, and characters that readers will either love or love to hate,” Pearson says. “You will be sitting on the edge of your seat until Reagan utters his final three words.”

After losing both his parents in a tragic car accident, Reagan inherits his grandfather's multi-billion dollar company and fortune while facing his final year of high school alone. After growing up a sheltered heir, the teen now must become the high-society face of the Jameson family, dealing with autograph seekers and paparazzi while coping with city life, school, developing into a teen superhero and falling in love – all without parental guidance.

Finally able to navigate his new life, Reagan and his friends are accidentally granted the power to control the elements. Initially, the idea of being a teen superhero is enticing, but Reagan soon realizes how difficult it is to juggle the day-to-day demands of adolescence and high-society responsibilities while sustaining his secret nighttime persona.

Filled with family secrets, kidnappings, forbidden love and more, “Green Hope” shows the character’s attempts to overcome typical teenage stresses, paparazzi, relationships, love and death as he heads up an elite crime-fighting team.

“Since the very beginning I was obsessed with comic books, magic and the dramas of high society,” Pearson says. “I like the juxtaposition of teens and superpowers because, in the real world, teens are exploring their limits and, yes, their own kind of powers as they prepare for adulthood.”
