“By accompanying individual associates to work on their bus ride, I can engage in one-to-one, open dialogue with them in an informal setting,” states Haywood.

One Florida CEO has made a personal pledge to trade in his Prius to accompany his employees on their bus ride(s) to work. Known as a leader who is committed to giving each and every member of the Dirt Pros team a voice, this personal sacrifice by Dirt Pros CEO, Marcell Haywood comes as no surprise.

Haywood’s personal pledge comes after seeing one employee get off the bus in downtown Ft. Lauderdale one evening. Haywood approached the associate to thank her for her commitment to Dirt Pros and was quickly made aware that she is one of the many Dirt Pros team members who utilize public transportation to get to and from work.

“I learned in that brief conversation that some of our team members take two and three bus lines to and from work each day,” states Haywood. “The amount of effort exemplified just to get to and from work overwhelmed me and really shows an extreme level of commitment on the employee’s behalf.”

Recognizing an opportunity to personally connect with his team by literally walking or should we say riding in their shoes, Haywood has planned to ride the bus alongside many of his employees. “By accompanying individual associates to work on their bus ride(s), I can engage in one-to-one, open dialogue with them in an informal setting,” states Haywood.

One member of the Dirt Pros team, Shelia Andoh, arrived at her bus stop one morning and immediately disconnected from her bluetooth as she beamed with excitement to see Haywood waiting to accompany her on her morning commute. “It’s one thing to have a conversation with your CEO in an office setting,” states Andoh, “it’s another when he accompanies you on your bus ride to work, now that’s really cool.”

Haywood plans to utilize the feedback he obtains during the bus rides to ultimately offer better solutions and improve daily operations for the hundreds of professionals employed by Dirt Pros. For example, a simple alteration of logistics could decrease an associate’s morning commute from two bus routes down to one.

“The ultimate goal is to continue to increase the moral of our team. A happier, more engaged workforce will continue to provide the highest level of service to our clients and better ensure our associates remain personally connected and dedicated to the company’s success,” states Haywood.
