Legal team for Dr. Rafik Benaissa says they intend to pursue the SNC Lavalin affair “till the truth is exposed”, following their suit filed in the Montreal Superior court for 5 million dollars and alleging SNC Lavalin has used Riadh Ben Aissa as a scapegoat in the scandal linking the Canadian Engineering group to the Kadhafi regime (Montreal Superior court file 500-1707-4573-125 ).
“Following a response from SNC Lavalin, we are working on a court order requesting a complete copy of SNC Lavalin’s negotiations with Riadh Ben Aissa from the month of November 2011 to the month of February 2012” says Tunisia-based Professor Hatem Kourda, an attorney for Dr. Rafik Benaissa.
"In August 2011, Riadh Ben Aissa made a long and dangerous road trip to Tripoli from Tunisia and was able to successfully convince the Kadhafi regime in paying 60 million dollars to SNC Lavalin for its undergoing construction projects in Libya, and this as the Libyan government was crumbling under NATO’s bombs. Riadh Ben Aissa’s loyalty to SNC Lavalin’s interests was heroic." adds attorney Kourda.
"In October 2011, my brother was showing clear symptoms and signs of a post traumatic stress syndrome related to his work and hardship in Libya. He was suffering from insomnia, loss of appetite, and memory loss." says Dr. Rafik Benaissa.
"In December 2011, SNC Lavalin had engaged in an internal investigation inspired from hateful anonymous denunciations, pressure from racial supremacy groups, and a media circus describing an imaginary plot of a science fiction nature to smuggle Saadi Kadhafi to Mexico. After 27 years of relentless work, Riadh Ben Aissa faced this internal investigation in a state of exhaustion, trusting that SNC Lavalin will treat him fairly and with compassion. Rather, SNC Lavalin chose to abruptly dismiss him and to humiliate him publicly in order to please the new regime in Libya. This public dismissal in a context of regime changes and grave Middle East instability plunged the life of this family man and his immediate family’s in great suffering and misery." adds attorney Kourda.
"We intend to go to the bottom of this unfortunate affair and trust Canadian Justice in our quest for the truth.” concludes university Professor Hatem Kourda.
“My brother spent 27 years in planes, barely sleeping. He is behind SNC Lavalin’s success story in North Africa. I will not rest until my Brother’s honor and my family’s are restored in a court of law” adds Dr. Rafik Benaissa.
