“Advisors looking down the track and assessing their options are realizing that the aggregators, the ‘roll-ups’, may be a mirage”
Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) November 12, 2012
Beacon Pointe Wealth Advisors (BPWA, http://www.bpwealthadvisors.com) a Beacon Pointe Advisors company, today announced the addition of their third advisor partner, $130M AUM RIA Wealth Management Network of Newport Beach, CA. This marks the third deal completed by BPWA in the past year and a half, the first two joining from Scottsdale, AZ and San Jose, CA, respectively. Wealth Management Network principals Mark Moehlman and Laine Ainsworth join BPWA as Managing Directors and equity partners.
Beacon Pointe Wealth Advisors leverages economies of scale with its partner parent firm, Beacon Pointe Advisors, the $5.5 Billion RIA (as of 9/30/12), to provide joining firms with instant brand synergy, access to proven processes and strategies and maximization of enterprise value. This approach provides the advisors with a 7 to 10 year timetable to position for an optimal valuation, succession scenario or both. The joining advisors maintain ownership and control of their destiny and are never tethered to the promise of a future “capital event” that may never occur. Beacon Pointe is not being built to sell, but rather to maximize value for their joining partners and provide certainty for their succession plan.
“Advisors looking down the track and assessing their options are realizing that the aggregators, the ‘roll-ups’, may be a mirage” says Matt Cooper, President of Beacon Pointe. “We’re making this simple, it’s about business continuity after the advisor retires, or about accelerating organic growth, or finding a partner to help identify qualified candidates to join you – or all of the above. We’re not building to sell, we’re building to be the best financial advisory firm with the best partner firms, in the country.”
BPWA offers joining firms the following immediate benefits, among others:
- Leveraging the Beacon Pointe brand for marketing, PR
- Access to Beacon Pointe best practices
- Enhanced enterprise value
- Built-in succession plan
“We spent quite a long time assessing our options, the better part of three years, and over the last nine months we accelerated that by bringing in M&A advisory firm Advice Dynamics Partners to manage the process, bring many candidates to the table and help us assess our options,” said Mark Moehlman and Laine Ainsworth, Managing Directors of BPWA Newport Beach. “And out of twenty options carefully, one might say painstakingly reviewed, we chose Beacon Pointe because it offered us growth, operational support, liquidity and last but perhaps most importantly, a built-in succession plan.”
"The complexity involved in finding a viable long-term partner while solving for Laine & Mark's multiple objectives was a not simple task” says David Selig, CEO of Advice Dynamics Partners. “Together we examined every imaginable business model, and ultimately we found the best fit for their objectives, short and long-term.”
Beacon Pointe Wealth Advisors has near-term plans to expand into the Northwest, Denver, Dallas, Boston and Connecticut markets, and aims to add 35 to 40 offices nationwide over the next 10 years. BPWA will act opportunistically and is looking for qualified advisors in the $100 to $300M range to join as regional partners.
