Finally, an alternative to heavy, bulky, and corrosion-prone in-bed fuel tanks. Made from military-grade cross-linked polyethylene, the Titan fuel tank has a 60 gallon capacity yet weighs just 51 pounds empty (comparable steel tanks can weigh as much as 250 pounds empty). That makes the tank easy to install and remove.
The polyethylene material offers other benefits besides light weight. It is 200 times less thermally conductive than steel, effectively insulating the fuel. That reduces condensation and also helps keep the fuel cooler, which can help improve fuel mileage compared to using a steel tank. Polyethylene is also impervious to corrosion from diesel and bio-diesel fuel as well as fuel additives that can destroy the aluminum liners found in steel tanks.
The Titan In-Bed Diesel Fuel Tank is fully baffled and has .250 inch thick walls that won’t bulge or crack. The tank’s smooth, contoured outer edges mean no sharp edges to rust or stress-crack. The tank is secured to the truck bed with forged eye-nuts and has provisions for tie-down straps.
Other features include:
- "Free spinning" locking cap
- Mechanical fuel gauge
- Built-in lift handles
- Fits under most tonneau covers
- Five year warranty
- Dimensions: 59 1/2 inches W (top)/48 1/2 inches W (bottom) by
17 1/2 inches H by 21 inches deep
The Titan In-Bed Fuel Tank fits most full-size American diesel pickups. Summit Racing also offers Titan OE replacement polymer fuel tanks for many 1999-2011 American diesel pickups, plus universal fuel tank shields for off-road use.
