5th Planet Games, Inc., an independent developer of core, free-to-play games, announced today the addition of Rob Carroll as Chief Mobile Officer. Carroll will be responsible for bringing these games as well as new titles to mobile gamers throughout the world.
“I have been a huge fan of ‘Dawn’ and other of 5th Planet’s games for years now, so I’m thrilled to be joining the company that I’ve always held in such high regard,” said Rob Carroll, Chief Mobile Officer of 5th Planet Games. “5th Planet has a very passionate and dedicated fanbase, and it’s exciting to be able to apply my knowledge of the mobile landscape to allow those fans to play their favorite games wherever and whenever they’d like. There’s also a giant opportunity to attract a whole new following as well, since there’s nothing available on mobile platforms right now quite like 5th Planet’s games.”
An established speaker, writer and authority on mobile and social games, Carroll joins 5th Planet Games having most recently served as the Director of Publishing at Tapjoy, a leading mobile advertising and publishing platform. At Tapjoy, Carroll ran the company’s developers fund and managed its publishing activity, investing in up-and-coming mobile games and advising mobile developers of all sizes in best practices on monetization, game mechanics, viral distribution and more. In his time with Tapjoy, Rob helped launch over 120 games on iPhone and Android with developers all over the world.

He has also spoken extensively at industry tradeshows and conferences including the Game Developers Conference, Casual Connect, Smartphone Games Summit and many others.
“Rob is widely recognized as a leading expert on mobile games, and he’s the perfect person to lead this important initiative for the company,” said Robert Winkler, Co-founder and CEO of 5th Planet Games. “His success developing, distributing and optimizing mobile games will be invaluable to us as we bring our existing titles to mobile platforms and expand our entire portfolio.
