Law of Attraction guru and Mind Movies co-founder Natalie Ledwell agrees with the findings of a recent study released by researchers at the Virginia Commonwealth University, which revealed that employees who bring their pets to work experience significantly less workplace stress compared to employees who don't.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the study was conducted their study at Greensboro, North Carolina-based Replacements Ltd., a company that sells china, stoneware, crystal and other dinnerware.
The company's staff of 550 brings roughly 30 dogs with them to work each day. The Virginia Commonwealth University researchers divided employees groups - those who brought their dogs to work, those who owned dogs but left them home and those who didn't own a dog or bring one to work. The researchers then tested the cortisol levels of each participant four times throughout each workday to measure their stress levels.
After one week, researchers found that at the end of the day, employees who brought their dogs with them to work experienced an 11 percent drop in their stress level at the end of each workday. Employees in the other two groups experienced a rise in stress levels of as much as 70 percent.
At San Diego-based personal development company Mind Movies, three dogs usually share the office along with the staff of 10. One of the pets, a small black mixed breed named Bella, belongs to co-founder Natalie Ledwell.
“We consider our staff family, and we aim to do what we can to keep our family happy,” says Ledwell. “Animals tend to put a smile on your face and remind you not to sweat the small stuff. When you're more relaxed, you become more creative, and innovation thrives. Plus visitors coming to our office love being greeted by a bunch of wagging tails. It’s one of the things that makes our workplace and our company unique.”
Over 1 million people worldwide have already received Ledwell’s free pre-made Mind Movies, which are dynamic moving video vision boards that help viewers visualize and achieve their desires and goals faster and easier than they ever thought possible.
