Cut-throat defense attorney Jessie Spring recently joined a law firm in upstate New York. She doesn’t have time for nonsense, so a relationship is the last thing on her mind. That is until she spots Detective Peterson. Although he has a reputation as a notorious womanizer, she finds herself drawn to him for reasons she can’t even fathom. Bill Peterson is not only an intimidating detective; he is one fine cop who always plays by the rules. One thing he has never believed in is relationships. Despite his views when he spots the sexy blonde lawyer in the court house, he only has one thing on his mind and he’s prepared to do whatever it takes to make his conquest. He certainly didn’t anticipate falling for her, and by the time he realizes what’s happened he’s in too deep in Mindy Potash-Smith’s intensely readable new novel, Sweet Nothings.

Before they can even be labeled as a couple however, Jessie starts receiving anonymous notes. Not having time for games, the last thing she needs is a stalker. But if she must ask for help, who better to employ than Detective Peterson? Although the rhyming one line messages seem innocent enough, what Jessie doesn’t realize is that someone is watching her every move.

While Bill is investigating ‘The Kid Murder Case’ where children are being executed, he stumbles across an eye-witness. Sixteen year old, Justin Nichols has a long history with Peterson. When he finds out that the person responsible for shooting innocent kids is a gang member, Peterson vows to keep Justin safe. He takes him into his home, but what he hadn’t taken into consideration is the aftermath. Once he apprehends the shooter, will he really be able to send Justin back out on the street?

The strong sexual attraction between Bill and Jessie is immediate. It may take longer than Bill had anticipated, but the passion between them is unlike anything he’s ever experienced.    Unfortunately two strong wills are also bound to argue, which they do a lot. But how much can their relationships truly stand?
