Living with celiac disease and gluten sensitivity during a natural disaster can be very difficult since food can be sparse, especially gluten free products. The notion of eating whatever you have may not be an option for these individuals. Gluten Free Calendar will be selling discounted group tickets to the December 15th NY Knicks game against the Cleveland Caveliers in honor of Gluten Free and Celiac Awareness Night. 100% of profits raised from ticket sales will benefit gluten free Hurricane relief efforts in NYC and surrounding areas and continued celiac research. Gluten Free Calendar has teamed up with GoPicnic, the makers of delicious and nutritious, gluten free boxed meals to provide food to those with celiac disease who have recently been affected by Hurricane Sandy. GoPicnic is providing these meals at wholesale cost to Gluten Free Calendar who will be purchasing them with 70% of the profits from tickets sold. "We are so grateful to GoPicnic for their generosity and their shared desire to serve in time of need." Said Chandice Probst of Gluten Free Calendar. The meals will be shipped to City Harvest, a great NYC food bank who is excited about the gluten free donations. The other 30% of profits will be donated to the Celiac Research Center at Columbia University. As the majority of the Gluten Free Calendar team is directly affected by celiac disease, research is of upmost importance to them.

In light of all the has happened recently in New York City and the surrounding areas, the traditional Gluten Free Calendar pre-game community event will be postponed until another NYC awareness night in 2013. "We kept going back and forth on whether to do our traditional community celebration or not, but with one of our special guests in rough circumstances and so many still struggling, we felt our efforts would be better spent trying to assist Erin Smith of the NYC celiac disease Meetup group in obtaining gluten free food to be donated to the local food banks. We were so moved by her tireless efforts that we wanted to assist in anyway we could." Said Chandice Probst, CEO and Founder of Gluten Free Calendar.

The Gluten Free Calendar team looks forward to hosting it's traditional pre-game gluten free celebration, with local and nationwide vendors, special guests and book authors next year when they will work with multiple teams including the Knicks again on Gluten Free and Celiac Awareness Nights.
