Pavilion Events builds the employability skills of our students and prepares them for exciting careers

Medway, Kent, UK (PRWEB UK) 14 November 2012

Banquets, business conferences and award nights are just some of the events available to book at MidKent College’s Medway Campus.

Pavilion Events is a company set up to make better use of the College’s state-of-the-art hospitality and catering facilities while providing students with the opportunity to gain paid work experience.

The Medway Campus – which opened in 2009 at a cost of £86 million – is home to The Pavilion fine dining restaurant, a large reception area and a performance theatre, which are all now available for hire.

A number of other rooms including the boardroom, large staff training room and computer suites can also be booked.

Pavilion Events manager Karen Wright said: “The Medway Campus is home to some truly remarkable facilities that have helped make MidKent College such a fantastic place to work and learn.

“We now want to share our resources with the rest of the community so members of the public can also benefit from top-class service at one of the best conferencing and events venues in the region.

“But the most important aspect of Pavilion Events is that it builds the employability skills of our students and prepares them for exciting careers in the hospitality and catering industries.”

One of the first organisations to utilise MidKent College’s facilities through Pavilion Events was Medway Council’s youth service, which held a dinner for more than 100 people from both the local area and France.

The meal was part of the cross-border Cyber Youth Connection scheme, which aims to develop young people’s skills in the areas of music, mechanics and cookery while supporting international connection with their cross-Channel partners.

Medway Council area youth manager Karen Self said: “The events manager was able to meet our every need and the hospitality of the young staff team was impeccable – they were both professional and attentive, and the meal was of an excellent quality.

“We would be more than happy to use Pavilion Events again.”

Pavilion Events is one of several in-house companies set up by MKC Aspire Ltd – a division of MidKent College designed to enhance the learning experience of students by creating real life opportunities for them.
