Commuter bike manufacturer Linus Bike highlights Business Insider’s report covering 13 health, economic and environmental benefits of riding a bike to work.

On November 16, Linus Bike, a commuter bike developer, responds to an article from Business Insider which reports that riding a bike to work can have health, environmental and economic benefits. Linus Bike highlights the benefits of bike riding from the report by promoting bicycle riding as a more beneficial method of transportation.

Business Insider published a list of 13 reasons that mark biking to work as beneficial to health, economy and environment. According to Business Insider, “Not only does biking to work have the potential to improve individuals’ health, wealth and standard of living, but the combination of more cyclists and fewer cars on the road could give the entire country a much-needed boost.”

“If American drivers were to make just one four-mile round trip each week with a bicycle instead of a car, they would save nearly 2 billion gallons of gas. At $4 per gallon, total savings would be $7.3 billion a year,” the Sierra Club told Business Insider.

According to Business Insider, “in [Copenhagen’s] 2012 Bicycle Account, the city says bike commuters generated savings ($0.42 for each mile biked) in just about every way imaginable: lowered transportation costs, security, branding/ tourism, traffic infrastructure and public health.”

Linus Bike representative China Reevers encourages cyclists to adopt cycling into their daily lives and supports Business Insider’s report. “Bike riding is a way of life. Like converting from regular milk to soy milk or quitting smoking, biking takes a strong effort to incorporate into an existing style but the benefits are worth the effort,” comments Reevers.

“If everyone just tried to bike more often, they would see a dramatic positive change in their health and their finances,” states Reevers. “The world would not only be a safer place but a healthier one as well.”
