As part of a drive to constrain electronic data storage costs, a client within the international mobile communications sector required the top level creation of retention and disposal polices that could be applied to their business applications. BEP worked with their corporate data governance team and departmental data owners to catalogue the data categories held and confirm retention rules, involving both a minimum retention period and the triggering event for that period to commence. This process involved applying data protection and regulatory considerations. BEP also developed application specific procedures for business systems in customer, HR, finance and other areas of the business.
