Likewise skincare addresses moisturizers for different skin types.

On November 19, 2012, skincare brand Likewise skincare releases a statement regarding misnomers about moisturizers for different skin types.

According to [Dr. Ruchi Agarwal of, “Moisturizers should definitely be used by all skin types. When we talk about moisturizers somebody who has normal to dry skin would need a slightly stronger moisturizer and somebody with a combination or an oily skin needs a water-based and very mild moisturizer. So one could always check the content and see for a water-based moisturizer or a gel-based moisturizer, especially for oily skin.”

Likewise skincare representative Lisa Shariat agrees with the doctor saying, “For years people have incorrectly assumed that only those with dry skin need to use moisturizers. In fact moisturizers are useful for all skin types from very dry to very oily, and are essential to keeping skin healthy. While dry skin may need require a more consistent moisturizing regiment, oily skin, if left dehydrated, will produce more oil to compensate and the end result is skin that is much more acne prone.”

Likewise daily [moisturizers are made to adapt to different skin types. Shariat goes on to state, “From oily to dry and everything in-between, skin needs moisture. It’s essential for clean and healthy skin, which is what we all want. While it may seem backwards to apply moisturizer to already oily skin, it can be the only way to replace the moisture that is lost during cleansing. A healthy routine involves both daily cleansing and moisturizing regardless of skin type.”

Likewise Skincare was founded by board-certified dermatologist and President of Likewise, Inc., Dr. Julie Pena. Likewise daily moisturizers are all-in-one but not one-fits-all. Each moisturizer is formulated with skin-balancing toners to work with your specific skin type. The moisturizers use a combination of anti-aging antioxidants, ultra-protective zinc oxide and water-resistant ingredients to keep you protected.
