Who needs Dr. Phil when the keys to fulfillment can be as easy as reading a book? It’s not that hard to do and you don’t have to go on TV to get started.

In his new book, Try It This Way, An Ordinary Guy’s Guide to Extraordinary Happiness, Mike Curtis draws from his life experiences and shares those valuable lessons to help others find their own way. He believes building a fulfilling life starts with the simple things, like maintaining a car properly, starting a campfire successfully, and being punctual to social events. From there, Curtis explores learning self-awareness and treating loved ones with care. Instead of asking “How’s that working for you?” Mike Curtis answers with “Here are some things that worked for me!”

The survivor of an alcoholic father who took his life when Curtis was 14, he reflects on his own soul searching over the years and what he found that lead him to have a successful marriage, raise happy children and have a fulfilling life. “I was prompted by my daughter-in-law to write this book because I have so many opinions on how to do things,” says Curtis. “I want to share what I’ve learned with others and hopefully help them to learn themselves, making them laugh sometimes too.”

Try It This Way gives easy to follow suggestions that entertain as well as educate. Curtis believes that with small steps and humor, appreciating the simple comforts of life, using common courtesies, and understanding the inner self will lead to true fulfillment. All of this is accomplished without a heckling studio audience.
