Marine industry in Northeast devastated.

“The marine industry sticks together and takes care of its own. That is something that we are very proud of.”

The Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County, Inc. (MIAPBC) pledged last week to donate $20,000 to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts currently underway to provide aid to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The donation is made up of $10,000 from the association, which was matched against $10,000 raised from the member businesses of MIAPBC.

The marine industry in the Northeast was particularly devastated by the storm as many businesses are located along the coastline making the industry uniquely vulnerable to storm and tidal damage.

*The MIAPBC will co-host a fundraising "Party for a Purpose" this Friday, November 16th at Wylders Restaurant at Jupiter Pointe Marine starting at 5:30 pm. All are welcome to attend and your $20 donation at the door will go to the Red Cross.

“We are honored to make this commitment and overwhelmed by the support from our membership,” said Mike Antheil, Executive Director of the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County. “The marine industry sticks together and takes care of its own. That is something that we are very proud of.”

Marine industry support will go to help boatyards, marinas, manufacturers, and marine service and retail businesses, including the employees and their families that have been affected. Visit http://www.RedCross.org today to make an online donation.
