To identify the top performers out of 1300 Houston-area participating businesses, the Houston Chronicle partnered with Workplace Dynamics, an independent research firm, to solicit feedback directly from over 72,000 employees themselves.

The award identifies companies that engage in employee-centric practices and positive corporate culture building. CEO Jay Steinfeld was awarded the Houston Top Workplaces leadership award in 2010.
