Dr. Bernhardt Blumenthal, author of the poem “Altes Licht/Ancient Light” which was awarded the Robert L. Kahn Lyrik Preis in 2006 by Society for Contemporary American Literature in German, publishes his latest collection of poetry in SONGS OF LIFE. Blumenthal’s work is a unique blend of literary pieces about love, relationships, and life’s ups and downs. It contains lyric poems in the German language which are also recast into English to reach out to local and wider array of readers.

Aside from being a fascinating celebration of life and love, the book is also a work of recognition of other poets and their poems. It is an impressive collaboration of a couple of artists dedicated to express themselves through verses and visuals. It features literary pieces penned by Joann Hill, the poet, artist and author of “The Genesis of You.” Hill also did the fine work on formatting and editing. Also, the book features a several contributions by Shâlonze-Létian Mivens, the award winning, recorded teenage poet, and author of “Girl Talk.”

Profound, honest, and evocative, the poems in Blumenthal’s SONGS OF LIFE will never fail to stir the souls of anyone trying to find shelter from the daily drudgery of contemporary living. His poetry is one that evokes new life. It is the triumph of human imagination over sterile reality. As Blumenthal declares, “My poetry seeks to render the word incarnate, to transform, experience into language; thus to endow spirit and body and to setup a monument of word and vision against death.”
