Casting Director Jennifer Venditti is holding an online open call to help find actors for the new film How to Catch a Monster, written and directed by Ryan Gosling. The search is being hosted on the website Cast It Talent, an online talent rep and actor services website.
Check back on the site often, as new roles will be posted. The following roles are open now--
BONES: Lead, male, 17-19 in appearance but must be 18 or older, Caucasian or multi-ethnic. An introspective loner with an active imagination. His challenging home life has toughened him, but he still clings to childhood fantasies. Balancing melancholy intensity with an innocent sense of wonder, he is driven by a strong desire to face his fears. Soulful, offbeat and quietly charismatic.
FRANKIE: Male, 3-6, Caucasian or multi-ethnic. A "feral" like boy who is constantly getting into trouble for trying to escape his school and house. Quiet and withdrawn but with an expressive face and deeply active internal life. Almost reminiscent of a silent film character.
Those interested and who meet the casting requirements can visit the open call website http://www.howtocatchamonstercasting.com and submit a video of themselves showcasing their acting skills.
'How to Catch a Monster', a modern day fairytale, mixes elements of fantasy, noir, horror, and suspense. The story follows Billy, a single mother of two, as she is swept into a dark fantasy underworld. Meanwhile, Bones, her 18-year-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. The film will shoot in Detroit, Michigan, beginning in May 2013.
There is no charge to submit your audition for these roles. No other roles are open to the public at this time, and no drop-in or telephone inquiries will be taken. The deadline for submissions is January 2, 2013.
