Japanese electrical giant Sony has hit the headlines after three televisions from their 3D range won prestigious accolades at the What Hi-Fi Awards 2012. The KDL-40HX85BU was awarded TV of the year with its larger 46 and 55 inch cousins taking the top prize in their respective size categories.
Last year arch rivals Panasonic and Samsung swept the board in the award's television category so it was no shock to see Sony bounce back and triumph with a hat trick this time round.
Local businessman Michael Gilmore wasn't surprised by Sony's success. Speaking from his Simply Electricals store in Bolton he said,
"Sony didn't feature in 2011's winners so I expected them to put up a strong challenge this year. Sony television chiefs would've been disappointed not to win anything in the last awards but will be over the moon with these honours. They're among our most popular televisions and it's not hard to see why. Their specification and picture quality makes them worthy winners. The three are essentially the same televisions with identical features and functions but different screen sizes."
Simply's Internet Sales Manager Ryan Gilmore was also keen to praise the Sony trio adding, "They've raised the bar this year with these televisions and set the standard for next year's releases. Our online TV sales have been steady over recent months but we are now hopeful for a surge with Christmas approaching and I anticipate they will among our best sellers."
Simply Electricals, with stores in Bolton and Rawtenstall, was crowned Best Small Independent Retailer earlier this year at the Independent Business Awards.
