( Social marketing is no longer a second-tiered practice on a long laundry list of disciplines. Even Chief Marketing Officers from major companies are invested in reaching consumers and using social platforms. To recognize the maturity of the social media marketing industry, the Shorty Industry Awards ( have formed an all-star panel of CMOs to select winners for the 5th Annual Shorty Industry Awards.

Joining this elite CMO Jury are (in alphabetical order): Mark Crumpacker from Chipotle, James Fishler from LG Electronics, Simon Lowden from PepsiCo, and Brian Niccol from Taco Bell.

About Mark Crumpacker, Chief Marketing Officer, Chipotle (
In 2009, Mark Crumpacker left the San Francisco-based brand consulting firm he co-founded to become the first Chief Marketing Officer at Chipotle. While he is Chipotle’s newest officer, he has long-standing ties to the company, having created its original identity package, and handling a number of projects for Chipotle as a consultant. As CMO, Mark is responsible for developing marketing strategies and a creative vision for Chipotle that bring the company’s market in line with the improvements we have made with our unique food and people cultures.

About James Fishler, SVP of Marketing and Go-to Market Operations, LG Electronics USA (
In addition to leading Marketplace Operations, In-Store Merchandising and Sales Operations, his responsibilities encompass Brand Marketing for Home Appliances, Home Electronics and Mobile Phone products in the United States. Fishler leads teams responsible for building LG into a powerhouse brand in the U.S., known for innovation and reliability under the company’s “Life’s Good” marketing theme.

About Simon Lowden, SVP, CMO, Pepsi Beverages North America (
Simon is responsible for PepsiCo’s North American Beverage portfolio, its marketing strategy, innovation and execution. Simon had been Chief Marketing Officer of Pepsi International since July 2007. Previously he was VP of Marketing, CSDs for PI, responsible for developing and executing the beverage marketing programs around the world. Simon joined the company from Unilever in 1996 as the UK Marketing Director before moving into a European assignment. He holds a BSC in Geography and Geomorphology from Kings College, London. Simon is a huge sports enthusiast – a rugby player of old and now a triathlete several times over and has completed the Ironman. He and his wife, Rebecca, live in Darien, Connecticut, with their two children: Ben, 19, and Caitlin, 16.
