CHL's commitment is to provide culturally relevant training to advance the careers of Hispanic professionals

On November 8, Hispanic professionals from Fortune 500 companies, the media, non-profit organizations, and local consulate officials participated in the launch of the Center for Hispanic Leadership (CHL) Atlanta Chapter. The CHL Atlanta Chapter meeting featured a powerful and heartfelt keynote from Univision's Mariela Romero who marveled at how the Latino community had rallied together to swing the U.S. Presidential election on Super Tuesday. "We are at a historic time in this country," said Romero, host of Univision community show Nuestra Georgia. "We have an opportunity and responsibility to become more organized, lift each other up, and show the world that we are not be ignored."

Romero's inspiring words as well as the stories she shared from her experiences as a journalist moved the audience. Said one attendee, “Mariela was very authentic." Another individual echoed the sentiment adding that the Univision anchor’s keynote was “very moving and thought-provoking.”

In addition to Romero’s keynote, attendees discussed and brainstormed unique ways in which to invest in their own career development and advancement by focusing on how to leverage their Hispanic cultural values. "This was an opportunity for Hispanic professionals to learn the beginnings of how to become more relevant, build their personal brands, and invest in their careers in ways that come most naturally to them," explained CHL Atlanta Chapter President Marisa Salcines.

"CHL's commitment is to provide culturally relevant training to advance the careers of Hispanic professionals," said Salcines, "and an open and positive forum to express and exchange ideas in the chapter setting."

Perhaps one participant's view captured the essence of the overall meeting with this feedback, "Hispanic leadership in the USA has been a huge void -CHL will help to fill."
