Our goal is to help startups mature their approaches into investable ideas and create a community of advisors and investors to help those ideas become companies that create new jobs
Stamford, CT (PRWEB) November 15, 2012
The Stamford Innovation Center has announced the appointments of IBM Software Group veteran Peter Propp as Vice President of Marketing and Long Island incubator leader Pattie Simon as Vice President of Sales and Operations. The Center is one of the four hubs of the statewide Connecticut Innovation Ecosystem recently announced by Governor Dannel P. Malloy. The Center is located in the majestic Old Town Hall at 175 Atlantic Street in Stamford, CT.
“Peter has been a tireless champion of Connecticut and Fairfield County as a center for entrepreneurial activity,” said Barry Schwimmer, Founder and Managing Partner of the Stamford Innovation Center. “He’s run dozens of events on a wide variety of topics. I am constantly amazed by the imagination and dedication he brings to the business of developing startups. I look forward to having Peter’s full-time marketing and strategy skills directed toward building our business and promoting the unique capabilities of the Stamford Innovation Center as well as those of our startups.
“Pattie brings tremendous enthusiasm, insight and experience to the Innovation Center team,” added Mr. Schwimmer. “Pattie started, built and ran LiSTnet, Long Island’s leading business incubator. She is a tremendous resource for startups and will make sure they have all of the support they require to grow. We know she will do whatever it takes to make the Innovation Center second to none.”
Known for his work as the original business development manager for IBM’s WebSphere product family, Mr. Propp has worked with hundreds of small technology companies and startups, both in his time at IBM and more recently as a marketing and strategy consultant. Based on his deep expertise in consumer and technology trends, Mr. Propp recommends concepts that leverage new technology and techniques to raise awareness and generate sales.
“I’m delighted to join the Innovation Center team in this essential function as we strive to drive collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts,” said Mr. Propp. “Our goal is to help startups mature their approaches into investable ideas and create a community of advisors and investors to help those ideas become companies that create new jobs. We will leverage the past year of great events around business, technology and startup topics to create a vibrant platform for collaboration, education and startup success.”
Ms. Simon brings a wealth of incubator experience to the Innovation Center team. She served as director of the Long Island Software & Technology Network (LISTnet) High Tech Incubator, the top technology incubator on Long Island, New York. She ran the LISTnet High Tech Incubator for five years before leaving to run marketing and business development for Prime Visibility, a LISTnet company that became one of the leading Search Engine Optimization companies and was included twice on the Inc. list of “Fastest Growing Companies in America.” Prior to that, she was at the Darcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles ad agency and American Express.
“The energy we are seeing from startups here in Stamford and Connecticut overall is really inspiring,” said Ms. Simon. “Our mission is to help encourage startups to develop their businesses and help them overcome the many obstacles that are inherent in the evolution of a young company. Our startups know that we are in their corner. I’m very excited to bring my skills and experience to the emerging Connecticut startup community.”
