Today, Alfresco announced a new version of mobile for iOS that transforms devices into true productivity tools for the enterprise. While many mobile apps focus on content creation and productivity, Alfresco Mobile 1.4 ups the ante by integrating three key productivity features that save time and increase efficacy for business users:
Task Management – Alfresco Mobile 1.4 leverages the powerful workflow capability of its Enterprise platform or Alfresco in the cloud to provide simple task management to start, complete or reassign tasks like review and approve of a document.
Note Taking – Productivity apps and note taking have become a central use case for tablets in the enterprise with a 46 percent adoption rate according to a recent Forrester Research report. (1). With Alfresco Mobile 1.4, business users now can create or edit a text file with notes, tag it and save it to Alfresco in the cloud or Alfresco Enterprise making the notes feature no longer disconnected from the rest of the organization’s enterprise content.
Mobile File Sync – Whether users are accessing sales presentations or product price lists, they can ‘favorite’ files in Alfresco in the cloud, Alfresco Enterprise or Alfresco Mobile and they will automatically sync to the mobile device of choice.
“Mobile is the most visible manifestation of a much broader shift to new systems of engagement that help firms empower their customers, partners, and employees with context-aware apps and smart products,” wrote Ted Schadler, vice president and principal analyst serving CIO professionals in the Forrester report: ‘Mobile Is the New Face of Engagement: An Executive Summary’ (2).
Alfresco’s productivity features add a new level of user engagement and efficiency to its already powerful mobile document management and capture capabilities. Additionally, Alfresco mobile is now available in five languages including English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

In addition to Alfresco Mobile 1.4 for iOS, Alfresco’s first mobile app for Android will be available in the Google Play store in November. Alfresco’s SDKs for both iOS and Android are also now available allowing developers to take advantage of document management functionality to accelerate mobile app creation.
Alfresco Mobile 1.4 for iOS is currently available in the Apple App Store, complete with 10GB of free cloud file storage in conjunction with Alfresco in the cloud. The company made the announcement during DevCon Americas 2012, which was held Nov. 13 – 15 in San Jose.
