Advertising Savants, a strategic marketing agency, and its client partner, the Saint Louis Zoo, have won the Brass Ring Award in Marketing Excellence, Class 2: Zoos and Aquariums at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo for the television commercial titled "The Call Up."
Promoting Sea Lion Sound, the Zoo’s new, state-of-the art habitat for 11 sea lions and a seal, “The Call Up” is a 30-second television spot that focuses on Bennie, a young sea lion, with a dream to make it to “The Show.” The commercial recalls the classic genre of baseball movies such as “Bull Durham” and “Major League.”
Associate Creative Director Tim Halpin remarked, “When Bennie is called into the manager’s office, he’s not sure if he’s about to receive good news or bad news. But when he finds out he’s been called up to the big leagues, he’s ecstatic, just as any minor leaguer would be.”
Two 10-second television spots, social media, out of home posters and billboards are also included in the campaign.
