People have long suspected the universe and its many dimensions to be the hothouse of romantic love. With brio native to a Quebeςois, fictionist Jacqueline Harvey remakes the galaxy as a vast playground of amour, encompassing universal mysteries and the deepest desire, formulating a unique tale in a new book, Without Fair Warning.

Although English is not Jacqueline Harvey’s native language, she nevertheless molds her English to cast the universe into flaming descriptive beauty and passion native to her characters – notable of which are Juan and Yvette, who, once upon the beginning of galactic time, fell madly in love. It was a love that welded their spirits into an unbreakable union, and thus Harvey’s story starts in the fifth incarnation or lifetime of that love. Yvette narrates the story with a Parisian flavor, with the delicate spirit of Parnassus.

Juan, in this fifth iteration of a lover’s quest for bliss and reunion, has now become a virtuoso singer. Yvette remains what she has always been – a dancer and a talented one. Juan refused to become a Grand Master in another dimension of time and both he and Yvette have lost something from travelling universal distances and dimensions – natural physicality. Thus love becomes a palimpsest of universal forces kept in delicate balance by the Creator. And the star-crossed lovers, having lived long and honestly as only lovers could, must do the long pas-de-deux into immortal consummation.
