Ardent Concepts has announced the availability of a new, patented, high density termination assembly solution for true 40 Gbps / 40 GHz coaxial-to-PCB transition. The Terminate-R™ from Ardent Concepts is a patent pending compression mount (solderless) connector designed to provide the lowest loss interface between multiple lanes of high speed digital channels on a PCB to another PCB or measurement instrumentation.

“We are fortunate to have worked closely with key customers to develop Terminate-R™ as a natural extension of our core competence in high signal integrity connectors” says Gordon Vinther, President of Ardent. “Developing a true coaxial connector system with our technology helped us to bridge the gap for our largest customers as they push the boundaries of development in 28 Gbps SerDes and other advanced applications.”

Terminate-R™ connector assemblies exhibit a return loss of <-20 dB through 20 Ghz with phase matching to +/- 2 ps. Initial versions of Terminate-R™ are available in 16up configurations with 2.92 female SMK coaxial cable connectors. Custom versions are also available. Ardent provides de-embedding files, signal integrity models and evaluation boards for the system as part of the Terminate-R™ toolkit.
