children are actually happier playing with boxes than the flashy games consoles
(PRWEB UK) 20 November 2012
New research carried out by OnePoll for Ribena Plus has confirmed what many parents will have already known – that most children can be kept quiet and happy just as easily with cardboard boxes and packaging as with expensive and fashionable toys.
Despite the ongoing recession, the cost of Christmas is continuing to rise for cash-strapped mums and dads, with almost half likely to be spending upwards of £200 on each child this year. For 10% of parents, that’s more likely to be over £500, while for 1% it could even be more than £2000 worth of gifts lavished on each child, according to the survey.
But it doesn’t have to be this way, because at the same time, 46% of parents questioned in the survey admitted that their children are actually happier playing with boxes than the flashy games consoles, tablets and other gadgets likely to be contained within.
With the cheapest item on the Toy Retailers Association’s list of ‘must have’ toys for this year costing over £22 (the most expensive is £89.99), Derby packaging suppliers Davpack has decided to do its bit for parents by producing its own ‘must have’ list for all good boys and girls this Christmas. All of these are much cheaper than anything on the official list and will provide hours more entertainment!
