Many adults and parents drive distracted, often with their own children in the car. Young people are vital to changing the culture of driving in this country.

Anapol Schwartz attorney Joel Feldman will be speaking at the Fall Leadership Conference of New Jersey’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)* on November 19. Feldman will talk about the loss of his daughter Casey in a distracted driving accident in 2009 and his efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving following her death.
The holiday season sends more travelers to the nation’s roadways and more dangers result. During this busy time of year, it is every driver’s responsibility to be aware of distracted driving and how to be safer on the roads. In order to battle the temptation of common distractions while driving for young people, Feldman developed a scientifically designed presentation that more than 50,000 teens across the country have viewed. Joel has personally spoken with more than 5,000 teens and adults across the country about distracted driving and is gathering data for a study that will be conducted by The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
“Distracted driving is not just a teen problem,” Feldman said. “Many adults and parents drive distracted, often with their own children in the car. Young people are vital to changing the culture of driving in this country.”
The moment a driver’s eyes leave the road, it can change the lives of countless people forever, Feldman’s End Distracted Driving website urges. One second is all it takes to be distracted. The organization’s mission is to promote advocacy, education, and action in order to preserve life and promote safety on a large scale.
