“October showed a clear sweep, across-the-board, of very good numbers in the in D.C. metro-area housing market,” says Donna Evers, Evers & Co. Real Estate President and Broker.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) November 19, 2012

Despite a continuing shortage of available inventory of properties for sale, the Washington D.C. metro-area residential housing market remains strong this fall, as evidenced by a 28 percent increase in the dollar volume of sales over October 2011. The area market also saw a six percent increase in the average home price and the average days on the market dropped by 30 percent compared to October 2011.

“October showed a clear sweep, across-the-board, of very good numbers in the D.C. metro-area housing market,” says Donna Evers, Evers & Co. Real Estate President and Broker. “Every indicator shows that we’ve got tremendous momentum in this fall’s residential real estate market, with many motivated buyers in our area.”

Evers says the D.C.-area market, which remains one of the strongest in the nation, is continuing to improve at a faster pace. With many buyers eager to purchase properties in popular neighborhoods and low inventory, builders, developers and home renovators are actively engaged in the market.

“One of the clearest signs of the strength of the market is the number of builders and renovators who are hitting the market hard,” adds Evers. “They are searching the area for land to build on and properties to renovate and sell in this competitive and very popular market.”

  • Statistics are taken from the Metropolitan Regional Information System for three areas: Washington, D.C.; Montgomery County in Maryland; and Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church in Virginia.
