Food regulatory and branding lawyer Sara Zborovski, a partner at Gilbert’s LLP, has joined a panel of volunteer experts at Newmarket-based Global Food Safety Resource Inc., an on-line provider of information and news to the food industry. In her role, she will provide GFSR’s on-line subscribers with a monthly commentary on legislation and regulations pertaining to food safety.
"With the passing of Canada's Safe Food Act, and the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act implementation just around the corner, businesses need to know how to prepare and implement compliance policies and programs,” says GFSR President Tina Brillinger. "Sara is a resource that will help them do that.”
In her regular work, Zborovski helps clients meet FDA and Health Canada requirements and protocols. She has a particular interest in working with clients to ensure compliance with food safety requirements.
“The recent massive XL Beef recall out of Alberta underlines the importance of food safety to the public, and the potential damage it can cause to the bottom line of producers and growers,” says Brillinger. “With Sara’s knowledge and background, GFSR will be able to provide in-depth information on the latest food safety management systems, regulatory compliance laws, and global safety benchmarks.”
