Resume Surgeon, the resume and career expert, has launched a blog on their career website to further help their users with employment advice.

The blog, launched last month, is designed to cover a variety of topics to help jobseekers with their applications and resume writing.

Will Martin, Director, commented: “We already have a number of advice articles on our website, from job interview advice to resume writing tips. But we felt that we also needed a casual voice, where we could sometimes to discuss topical issues and offer more of a social platform. The blog is designed to do this – it offers a more conversational section of the site and the idea is that eventually we will launch a forum style to it so our users can also get involved and comment. It’s a great addition to the site and I am confident it will help to improve our career offering.”

The launch of the new blog comes months after the Resume Surgeon team launched a new video channel – focusing on filming career related issues and interviews with industry experts. The team also interact with candidates via social networking sites – their Facebook and Twitter pages were launched last year.

The blog addition sees Resume Surgeon offering one of the most comprehensive career advice resources available. As well as offering topical conversations on the blog, the site also includes career advice articles on job interview preparation, resume writing, cover letter writing and job search tips. There is also a section, called Industry Spotlight, dedicated to providing interviews and career chats with experts in different fields. This also links in with their You Tube channel.

Amongst the site content users also have access to resume samples. Users can sign up to the site and create bespoke resume templates that include innovate designs and layout and resume writing tips. The entire offering is designed to help jobseekers from the early stages of finding a job right through to gaining employment.

Further developments are planned for the future as Will Martin explained: “We want to continue improving our content and we want to continue to help people looking for work. We already have an interactive user base and talk regularly to our members to find out if there is anything else they need. Through extensive research we have found the Industry Spotlight offering to be hugely popular. With the job market being so competitive, many candidates are looking for ways to stand out. The Industry Spotlight section not only gives them an idea of what it’s like to work in the industry but it also gives vital tips on how to impress in it. That’s one section we’ll be developing and we’ll also constantly assess other areas of the site to ensure we are offering the best service out there.”
