School Prospectus, the UK’s leader in prospectus design for schools is launching new software which takes the traditional school prospectus and brings it to life with the use of smartphone and tablet technology.

For more than a decade, School Prospectus has been working in partnership with schools to provide bespoke marketing materials such as brochures and prospectuses both in print and online. The company are now extending their services to include the use of augmented reality technology. This is a first in the school prospectus field and will provide the end user with an engaging and immersive prospectus experience than has ever been seen before.

Augmented reality technology requires the use of a smartphone or tablet PC in conjunction with a printed school prospectus. Users simply connect to the school’s app, hold their device over an image in the prospectus and watch it come to life on their screen. In practice, this means that standard school prospectus photography will be able to come alive with video, audio, and animation. Not only will this be entertaining, it could prove to be particularly beneficial for young children or those who have anxieties about attending a new school, as it could give them the opportunity to take a virtual tour or watch video content to get a feel for the school.

The augmented reality service bridges the gap between a school expressing its personality in print and the technological expectations of today’s parents and pupils.”

Through developments in technology, those working with the secondary school prospectus or independent school prospectus for example have many more options in terms of how to differentiate a school from its competitors and help it stand-out in its market. The opportunity for schools to engage potential students and their parents through new media is already very appealing to many education centres. Kantar Worldpanel ComTech report that Smartphones account for just under 70% of all mobile phone ownership in the UK. This means that the majority of the British public are already able to use augmented reality anywhere, anytime. An innovative, world-leading prospectus could raise the profile of a school beyond anything a print prospectus, online prospectus or school website could achieve on their own.
