Shamrock Trading Corp. announces the purchase of the Glenwood Place office buildings in a transaction that closed earlier this week. Soon to be named the “Shamrock Towers,” the two buildings totaling 270,000 square feet will undergo extensive renovations over the coming months in preparation for an expansion of the company’s campus currently centered in Lenexa, KS. Shamrock Trading Corp. is a privately-held company with business interests in real estate, transportation, and financial services.
Tom Sullivan, vice president and spokesperson for Shamrock, expressed enthusiasm regarding the real estate transaction. “We believe this is the right place to grow and operate a business, beginning with the State of Kansas all the way to the county and city levels. We very much appreciate all of the support that Mayor Mike Boehm and the City of Lenexa have given us in our 26 year history, as well as the support shown by Mayor Carl Gerlach and the City of Overland Park on the Shamrock Towers project. We look forward to working with both cities on additional projects in the years to come.”
“Economic growth due to the success of an existing company is some of the best news you can hear and appreciate,” said Mayor Gerlach. “This company, which plans to keep a presence in Lenexa, is expanding its operations into Overland Park due to stellar management and sound business strategies. The partnerships we are able to develop with companies like Shamrock Trading will truly benefit residents and businesses of both cities.”
The company plans to add several hundred high-quality positions over the next few years. Primarily, these jobs are expected to be in the areas of sales, finance, transportation, accounting and IT. “I want to congratulate Shamrock Trading on its significant expansion plans that will help the company grow by 400 employees over the next five years,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “This is great news as we work at the state level on creating the best business environment for companies to grow in Kansas.”
“We began our search out of a need for additional space that would accommodate our growing workforce,” said Sullivan. “Not only were we looking for space that would be centrally-located, we also wanted a location that would represent an investment in our community. Finally, we were impressed by the City of Overland Park’s “Vision Metcalf” development plans.” According to the City’s website, this effort “seeks to guide development of the Corridor’s private and public space to create a more vibrant, active, and exciting place to live, work, learn and play.”
The company expects to occupy a portion of the buildings and will renovate as needed for future expansion. There are also plans to lease a portion of the towers as well. “We have already received inquiries from several interested parties,” Sullivan noted. “We believe the Shamrock Towers will be an exceptional environment for our employees and we look forward to creating a world-class office setting.”
