Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) November 20, 2012
Pevco, a U.S. manufacturer focused exclusively on pneumatic tube systems (PTS) for hospitals, today announced that it has enhanced the usability of Pevco Smart System™ by adding integration with common nurse call systems such as Hill-Rom’s NaviCare®.
Pevco Smart System is the customized operating software that controls a Pevco PTS. It is the brain behind the complex network of tubing, blowers, diverters, and send/receive stations that together comprise a hospital pneumatic tube system.
Smart System’s integration with nurse call systems allows Pevco to link any pneumatic tube station to technology nurses already use so that they are alerted when a carrier arrives at a station in their area. The first nurse call system to integrate with Pevco Smart System is NaviCare Nurse Call by Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc.
Nurse call systems, which are widely used in hospitals throughout North America, proactively alert the caregiver about the patient, room and bed status via direct communication through wireless devices or status boards, giving them the information they need to improve patient safety and satisfaction.
Smart System’s nurse call integration feature:
- Prevents patient care delays by instantly informing nurses of carrier arrivals
- Gives nurses more time to interact with patients, rather than wait for carriers
- Reduces waste by reminding staff to retrieve carriers before the contents become misplaced
Another of Smart System’s new standard features is Pevco Sentry™. Released last year, Sentry provides facility engineers with automated email notification of PTS transaction details, advisories and alarms. Sentry communicates with any device that is email-enabled–from a desktop computer to a smartphone. By filtering emails to specific personnel by station location and type of event, communication is streamlined. Technicians receive only the critical information they need to keep their Pevco PTS–and their facility–running smoothly.
Both new standard features–nurse call integration and automated email alerts–stem from Pevco’s ongoing research about customer needs and how Pevco software can support them.
"Routing errors and system downtime are unacceptable,” said Pevco President Fred Valerino, Jr. “The pneumatic tube system is so critical to efficient patient care that it simply must work. Pevco understands that reliable systems are essential and as such, invests heavily in software development to ensure our customers have the most dependable, feature-rich PTS possible.”
