Stevens Pass First Resort To Open In Washington

Stevens Pass is set to open for the season Tuesday, November 20 at 12 p.m.

With a 28-31" base, Stevens Pass is set to open for the season at noon on November 20.

Stevens Pass is celebrating its 75th Anniversary by being the first resort to open in Washington for the 2012/13 season. Winter is officially here and with more than 24 inches of snow in the past 24 hours, conditions are going to be great for opening day.

“We are excited to be the first resort to open in the state and now that El Nino is no longer a threat, this is the start of a terrific season. I invite everyone to come join us for opening day,” said Karl Kapuscinski, President and CEO.

Operating hours will be 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Tickets will be just $20 for guests on opening day and free for visitors who show their season pass from any other Washington resort.

Up to three lifts will be available accessing a good assortment of beginner to intermediate terrain and the resort will start with a solid 28 to 31 inch base. Terrain park staff is working hard as well and expects to have several terrain features in place by tomorrow with up to 10 features by Wednesday.

Resort amenities will be limited but by Wednesday Stevens Pass expects to have lessons, rentals, retail, and expanded food & beverage facilities operating. Tickets will then be offered at the discounted rate of $39 through the weekend.

As a special incentive, Stevens Pass is rolling back its season pass rates to the fall sale prices Wednesday through Sunday. Guests can save up to $300 and benefits include free skiing at Sierra at Tahoe, Mountain High, China Peak, and more. Grab your skis and snowboards and take the short drive to Stevens Pass because the 2012/13 season is here. With more than $1 million in improvements the resort’s 75th Anniversary is sure to be a special one. Remember, pass holders from any other Washington resort ski free when they present them at the ticket windows on opening day.
